The story
Climbing in the Dolomites: spires, towers and pinnacles of dolomite limestone — the UNESCO World Heritage chain officially protected since 2009. The day traces a line across Guglia Giuliana, Col da Varda and Col Siro, with classic II–IV pitches in vertical, exposed terrain. The rock — excellent in places, friable in others — demands clean movement and cautious route choice. The Dolomites are the cradle of modern alpinism: here Emilio Comici, Reinhold Messner and generations of climbers rewrote the rules. Even topping a minor spire in this range is a small rite of passage.
