The story
Ski touring on Punta Culour (2,384 m), a discreet yet rewarding peak on the Cuneo side of the southern Cottian Alps. The route follows a side valley where traffic is light and snow often holds excellent quality well into late spring. The ascent combines moderate slopes and long panoramic traverses; the descent, through sparse larches and wide plateaus, offers clean, safe lines when avalanche conditions are stable. The GTA stopover hut on the Grande Traversata delle Alpi serves as start and rest point. A "minor" outing on paper, but one that delivers the essence of Piedmontese ski touring: silence, landscape, and good snow.
