Location
The story
Alpinism on Punta della Sella, in the Alpe Oropa — Biellese massif, at the foot of the Monte Mars group. The area is one of the historic cradles of Piedmontese alpinism: early climbers set off on foot from Biella or the Sanctuary of Oropa. The day unfolds among glacial tarns, sparse pastures and granite walls, with Punta Lej Long as a complementary peak. Rifugio Barma on the lake of the same name, and Rifugio Delfo e Agostino Coda, are historic support points. A less known setting than the classic Cuneo or Aosta valleys, but deeply charming — especially for those seeking solitude and views over the Po plain.
